The Radio-Tech Rail Temperature Monitoring System (RTM), is a cost effective, fully tested and Network Rail Approval (Certificate PA05/01210) automated way of obtaining reliable running and conductor temperature figures on a 24/7 annual basis for applications such as monitoring "Critical Rail Temperatures" the formation of ice on conductor rails and the freezing of ballast.
Totally non-evasive rail mounted transmitter probes report to a track side data logger, which in turn reports back to central control. The system can be deployed anywhere in the railway network including tunnel mouths, cuttings, areas liable to flooding and "red zones".
Data is delivered back to control via a secure CSD data transfer protocol. There is the option of warning text messages to mobile operatives and the ability for operatives to request the latest temperature using their mobile telephone. The system is 100% battery powered and does not require solar panels or cables ensuring that it is invisible to vandals and resilient track maintenance.
The system is based upon our Wireless Data Logger technology where a up to eight wireless temperature transmitters talk to a common Data Logger. This is not a push and prey service - but a dedicated 100% 2-way communication system with full error detection, in built redundancy, numerous anti-tamper and safety features. Installation takes just a couple of minutes there are no cables at risk of damage during tamping and Simply fit and forget - the rail probes have a battery life of between 6 and 10-years and the Wireless Data Loggers up to a year!
Rail Temperature Transmitters available with clips to fit all common running rail sections.
